Looking for a mid to upper level swimming fish. Any ideas?

Ok so in my tank i have 1 jade goby and 2 Ladder pikes. All fish are still small. I'm looking for something that will swimm in the mid to upper levels. I was thinking about a mosaic gar or a needle nose gar. I know they arent true gars. Any ideas about what i mentioned or do you have any other ideas. Also, I wanna stay away from aggressive cichlids as I feel they are very unpredictable and my fish arent the cheapest and easiest to come by and I've had too many cichlds kill nice looking fish.. Ideas anyone?


Tank size is a 55 growout and the future is ethier my 125 or 150 both currently in my basement

Thought about that. I can geta jardini for $50 but i dont think it will live its life in a 150.

If you look them up several sites recommend a minimum of 125 gal.

Severums are really nice active cichlids, which aren't aggressive. Would really be a nice addition to your tank.

I've had them b4 and my fiance has a gold sev in her tank. I'm looking for something different. I dont know about a jardini.
