Hey everyone, haven't lurked the forums in a while, school and customer guitar builds have got in the way.

as some of you knew (dunno if it's still in my signature or not), but i had a 55 gallon Oscar tank with one Tiger Oscar. I've decided that as much as i loved having my Oscar, his growth was getting intense and i couldn't sustain him much longer. he is now in a much better home.

right now my tank is completely taken down for a nice cleaning and i'm preparing to do a whole new setup, preferably planted.

here is what i have right now:

55 gallon tank
48" light with a one grow-light bulb at the moment (didnt have the cash on me for the second one :screwy: )
AC70 filter

and about $150 or so. no fish, no plants, and all my old gravel substrate is out.

any ideas for atleast the stocking? i want to maybe go with some mosses and other low-light plants. I like cichlids, but i don't really want anything aggressive, as i got completely sick of having a tank with one lonesome fish in it. also, nothing that will outgrow the tank. i can't afford another tank, space-wise or money-wise, for a good while.

thanks everyone.

do sand and for cichilds that won't out grow your tank....
rainbow cichlid
keyhole cichlid
cryptoheros nanoluteus
firemouth cichlid
blue acara

but i can't really do planted with sand?

i like the cichlids though, i'll do some research.

What about a native pond-style tank with hydra and such?

I have an EBJD, Belly crawler pike cichlid, Senegal bichir, and two pictus catfish
they will out grow the tank...
