I was at the LFS today getting a dozen ghost shrimp to put in my 29, an noticed 3 of these guys

listed as Red Pikes. As far as I could tell the only red on them was a thin stripe on the top fin.

Sorry bout the crappy picture, it was the best I could do with my camera phone.

i'm not expert but it looks like my johanna, so johanna is my guess.

GIVE THAT MAN A FISH!! Boom baby, you nailed it. Reason they are called red pikes is as adults they have a lot of reds in their coloration...hence the name. Very kewl pikes, get relatively large, not tooo horribly aggressive. :D

but peanut, doesnt that look like my pike? that i was trying to get and ID for?

Believe me bro, they are totally different fish. Your fish is definately Crenicichla sp. 'venezuela'...whereas his fish is Crenicichla johanna. There are quite a few difference if you know what to look for. Practice makes you better at IDing though..haha...not perfect.
