Looking for a room/basement to rent in the Greater Portland, Oregon- Vancouver, Washington area.

I an a 45 year old twice over cancer survivor. I have to live on Social Security Disability only as I can't work anymore due to the side effects of the Cemo and Radiation therapy. It has deteriorated the disk in my back so I can't stand, walk for more than 15 minutes without grueling pain setting in. I make 1090 a month, but they take 200 of it for back child support on my 25 year old daughter. So I get 890 per month and I would be able to pay 400 for the room with utilities.
I did serve 10 years in the Army so I am a clean organized person.
I don't have friends so there won't be guest coming over or parties or anything like that.
I do have a 14 year old son that may stay over every now and then.
I do smoke cigarettes but outside only if necessary.
I do use marijuana to help with the ongoing pain of my back. Now I ain't no Snoop Dogg and smoke all day everyday. Just a hit or two every few hours to control the pain. In my mind this is better that getting addicted to pain meds like Vicodin and such. Like my cigarette smoking will do it outside if necessary.
I do have three fish tanks. Two 55gal and a 29, I want to combine the two 55s into a bigger tank when I can afford to get one.
Been looking on Craigslist but I have not received a single reply back.
I can show proff of my SSD payments via official paperwork and also show my bank account showing that I have been on SSD for nearing a decade now. I get paid on the 3rd of the month so thats when I will make my rent payment.
I don't have a driver's license nor a car so I would be willing to pitch in some gas money for a couple trips to the store for groceries and necessities.
I was living with my son's mother, she recently got married and her husband don't want to live with the ex. So I moved in with a friend of mine. The basement I am in currently in. But the lady that owns the house wants me out due to water usage and me taking away her time with my friend due to me living there and him spending time talking, watching TV with me not her......

There lies the vicious catch 22 of the whole thing.
If I do get a job, I would lose my SSD. I have no training in anything. I joined the Army at 17.5 years old, and got my first round of cancer a year after I got out. In the Army I was artillery, that don't relate to anything out in the working world. I can't goto school to get a better job cause that's the same as working in SSDs eyes, so no money of any kind while in school. So I can only get some kind of lower paying job where I would make less than I am now, after you take out medical cost, back child support payments, transportation. I can't get any kind of state issued licence, driver, business, hunting, gun any kind at all due to back child support that I couldn't pay while I was sick fighting cancer.
I would lose my medical care thru Medicade/Medicare that the state pays the dues because I am on SSD. I would lose the food help I get from foodstamps. It would be very hard/costly if not impossile to get medical due to the whole pre existing condition clause. I have already had 1.5 million dollars in medical bills written off due to inability to pay. I didn't have any kind of medical when it all started. Cemo for six months, two surgeries, radiation therapy all the meds, Dr. visits, racked up a massive bill. That to this day still has my credit score in the low 500s.
When I got out if the Army I was a dumb a** and took Clinton's pay off. They were shrinking the military after DS 1. So they paid off the rest of your contract for you to leave now with a honorable discharge and all the pay you would have made during your contract. I had 10 years in and just signed up for 6 more. With the money I bought a brand new double wide manufactured house, a second car and all the stuff a house needs, furniture what not. That I had to sell off at a massive loss a year later when the cancer showed up just to feed myself.....

Well good news, I found a place. It's at a friend of a friend's house. He is a 48 state trucker so is at home like 12 days a year. And to top it all off it's for just the electric bill and cable bill. So less than I was offering and have been paying.
