Hello All,
First I would like to greet everyone. I'm new here and just registered on MFK and have been roaming around reading posts today. A little backround on myself, I'm a Junior in Highschool obsessed with Marine Biology. All of my classes have been biology related in science (Biology, Marine Biology, Marine Biology II, and Anatomy/Physiology). Anyhoo, I've been considering some new pets for the house and have been narrowing it down to Jellyfish, Rays, Octopus, or Squid. Jellyfish were a pain because I couldn't find a Non-90 degree tank for less than thousands of dollars. Although, I came to the decision of Rays after spending hours (Until Closing Time) at Shark Reef Mandalay Bay petting the rays, and will probably go after Piranhas in the near future. I'm wondering what is a relatively small type of Ray, that doesn't IMMEDIATELY (As in like 7 months) need a 180 gallon tank as a living tank. I'm trying to start off smaller and affordable since I do make a not so large amount of money, unless said Shark Reef accepts my application. That being said, I want something that can be in a 75-120 gallon with a relatively small footprint after I purchase it for a few months. Still, I was considering making my own tank, like a ceramic pond, bottomed with sand/gravel and supported by wood in the Garage unless I get more info on a tank and proper setup pH levels etc. Yes, I know my question is kind of broad but if any of you MFKs out there can help me out, I'd appreciate it!

Much Thanks,
C. Negatory

Welcome Aboard!

Very nice people here, where everyone is just like family.

Feel free to post questions and comments to the forums, and photos to your gallery.

Okay great! Is there a huge difference between tank setup for a Saltwater Ray or anything different in feeding? I would imagine they are the same creature besides the slight evolution of the Freshwater Ray, and maybe the pH levels but Nitrite and Nitrate levels would be the same?

Thanks For The Welcome "Vintage Aquariums"!
