Hey everyone. I just picked up a nice 210 gallon tank and stand for a killer deal. Now i need to get it setup. I currently have a 70 gallon tank that i'm upgrading from. On the 70 gallon tank i have a hang on filter but i know that won't be enough for this larger tank. The 210 gallon tank has 4 holes in the bottom, i'm assuming for filtration, but i need some advice on what kind of filter i should hook up to it. I need something that's relatively low maintanence but still does a good job. If you guys could educate me on a good setup i'd appreciate it. Thanks.

I would check in the DIY forum for how to build a sump. There's a lot of good posts in there how how to size the pump, and how to run all of the lines. JMO. GL

Thank you for responding. From what i understan, a wet/dry sump style would be better than a canister style filter? Or would i be able to hook up one or two canister filters and get the same result?

canisters are okay but a sump can hold waaaaay more filter media any day of the week= a clearer cleaner tank

Now i'm assuming that it'll be the same answer for a saltwater tank. I forgot to mention that part, i'm going from a 70 gallon saltwater tank to a 210 gallon saltwater tank. Are there and good sump type system that i can just hook up and plug in or do i have to make my own?

You can buy some pre-built sumps but they are pretty pricey compared to say a old 55gal tank and some pieces of glass from the 2nd hand store, also it would be hard to come by a sump that big, atleast around here, you could convert your 70 gallon to a sump, that would be sweet :D

How many canister filters can you fit in a 70 gallon tank? lol

Well i have an old 25 gallon tank but i didn't think that would be large enough for the 210. If i were going to buy one, what companies should i look at? Any particular models you guys suggest?
