Well this is my first post on this site and I currently have an empty 75 gallon tank that was just to big for me so after I relocated the fish and saw my tank sitting there empty for almost 3 years now I've decided to get back into the great experience of fish. I'm looking to downgrade to something probably around 30 gallons.... small I know. The biggest issue I know I'll find with downgrading is that I won't have room for most of the fish that interest me. I love cichlids, oscars, balas, tiger barbs, blood parrots all of the above but with only having a 30 gallon tank I know I won't be able to home some of my favorite fish. I don't want to put fish in a tank that's too small for them so I'm seeking some advice for what would be ideal in a 30 gallon tank. I put the fish that interest me most so you have an idea of what I'd be interested in. Not big on tetras or mollys or betas.... Any info is very appreciated. Thank you!!!!!!!

Firstly, why do you think that a 75 gallon is too big for you?

Ok, now secondly, to answer your question: If you like cichlids and have a 30 gallon, you could do some of the dwarf cichlids like convicts, the apistogrammas, rams, etc. You could probably do a colony of Pseudotropheus salousi. You could do a combination of a pair of the dwarf Julidochromis species + a shell dweller species. You could do Neolamprologus brichardi. There's more if you have a certain type of fish in mind.
