I have two Eheim 2262s to fill. I few months ago I saw in this MFK forum an list of stuff that could be used as an alternative to the more pricey Eheim media and could be found on the Internet for about $40. Does this ring a bell? Can't seem to find it now. Thanks for the help.

Pond matrix is one of the lower cost bulk bio medias. Last 20L bucket I bought was like 99 bucks but its usually around 120ish. Ive seen some deals in the vendor section on bulk ceramic rings also

^ this is 100% correct. I have tons of both and pond matrix is the way to go on a budget.

I am currently using growstones on all of my tanks, it is recycled foam glass hydroponic media. Its cheap 30.00 for 34L. The media will raise your PH to about 7.5ish for the first few weeks then in will drop to a steady 5.5-6.5 over the cycle. i have been running it for awhile now and it is awsome. I clean it in tank water every 3 months.
