i finally got some time together and set up my 79 gallon tank. it is fresh water. it had 2 penguin 330 filters...but one has cracked so i need to go out and get annother. the tank has been cleaned and filled with just one filter running for now. ill be looking to put fish in it next week, and im looking for ideas.
i wanted a channel or a redtail cat, but ive come to realize that there is no way id be able to raise it in a 79 gallon tank. i really liked the oscars i used to have, but at the same time i want to try something different. if all else fails, ill end up with some oscar. i would like to have a larger fish that likes to eat...eat big living things.
i have no problem keeping only one fish in the tank. but, only if that one fish is very large. well, large for the tank. not something extremely aggressive. i also want fish that will not outgrow the tank.
my wife wants them to be pretty. i dont care if they are pretty or nasty looking...as long as they like to eat. i will secretly over ride her in this post, which i hope she doesnt read.
i also thought it would be cool to have some fish that would be in the great lakes. i do not know the legalities or how to care for such fish. plus, i wouldnt know where to start to choose which fish or find someone that would sell them.
give me some ideas and suggestions!! im open to your thoughts on what should live in my basement!!
