Hey Guy's. I'm looking for some help of what to put in this tank. it's 760 or thereabouts, ( 70"x70"x36" ) I know I want to pack it full of Cichlids but that's about it at this point.
It's going to have about 700 pounds of Texas Holy rock piled up in the middle around the overflow so there will be plenty of hiding places!!
I am looking for fish that will stay around the 4" to 8" range but I want the brightest prettiest colored fish I can find... Mainly Blues and Purples but Red's and Orange would be fine as well... I want something that all Males will get along with each other and maybe even School together because of the shape of the tank!!
To be honest I don't even know what I want so it Can be other Cichlids as well!!
If you have a idea you would like to share please feel free because I am open to anything right Now... If possible can you Please post a picture or link to the fish you would recommend so I can look at them please?
Thank you all so much for any help or advice you can give me with this build!!

Is that your tank?

I’m sorry I’m not sure if I missed something but I’m confused.. you’re looking for fish to stock in an already decently stocked tank?
I am so sorry.. Maybe I should have explained that a little better. the tank is Completely empty right now. I just purchased it from a local fish store that went out of business, That was Pictures before we took it down.
So Sorry for the Confusion!!

As tempting as it is to do a "every color of the rainbow" random African Cichlid tank, I'd stick to larger groups of 2-3 complementary cichlids, both to prevent hybridization (it will be a PITA to remove inevitable hybrids that will result from a random mix... and the tank will eventually become a bunch of muddy fish) and for visual effect.

Maybe an mbuna (Chindongo saulosi?), an open water "hap" (like Protomelas) and a peacock-type (something other than OB). Add a couple of predatory haps if you want to keep fry under control. And whatever you do, please leave out the lonely frontosa in the Malawi tank :)

Personally would go with tanganyikan cichlids, will give more variety and less likely to hybridize with each other (still possible with soem species of course)
A bunch of Calvus or similar, shell dweller colonies on the bottom, julidochromis swimmin in the rocks, and some big frontosa tank-bosses.

Lots of ways you could go but the texas holey rock kind of forces you to stick with africans.
