Just looking for information/insight from people who have kept these cichlids before. If you have pics please share them. A local lfs has a 6-7" Nic and I was thinking about getting it. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks

If you like them you should get them. They got shiny metallic and extreme colors if healthy. Not too aggressive either.. I've never kept them, but seen some and read some about them.. I will get those in the future when I have the space.

Cool fish to keep.

Easy to breed, and a pair will typically form a very strong bond, even if seperated over a longer period.

Males above 10" will usually have a nasty set of teeth in the entire front of the mouth.

No particular aggression, except when breeding. Mild cichlids that are tough enough to be hold theire own with most big guys.

I have a female. And yes they do have some very nice coloring, especially the males. I don't know much on the aggression end, mine does not seem to bother anyone, but she is with a couple of large oscars (very tame oscars and not overly aggressive).

Have had a few, they push the larger fish around but do not harm them, they are very active and have huge appetites and are a great fish to keep.will post pics of mine when I get home.

Mine are king and queen of the tank but not overly aggressive. They do protect their cave well and show who's the boss to others.

My 6" male.

Great looking fish!!!! Does anyone have additional pics of these guys to share????

a while ago i brought an extremely colourful male '6 and at a good price. However he was too shy so i returned him.
A hasty and regrettable decision now i think about it... :(:(

too shy for a photo

I guess if you do purchase one and it's shy, be patience it'll be worth it.
