I have a planted 125 gallon running CO2 and ferts. Right now I have 2 led bars (dont) laugh plus a 72 " beamswork. I would like to make my own led light but there is so much information out there can some one help me please. Thank you.

Hello; I converted my hoods to LED in two ways. First was to gut the hoods and install old style standard sockets. The selection of screw in LED bulbs is good now days so finding smaller sized bulbs is easy. I find my planted tanks doing well under these lights.

If your hoods have fluorescent tubes there are now replacement LED units for those tubes. I saw some plant light tubes yesterday.

I have not attempted to build the LED strips myself if that is what you re after.

I have used "LED supply" and "Rapid LED" stores for fixture components in the past. Youtube is the greatest source of information on all types of LED fixture builds. I now use the RGB LED floodlight fixtures from Ebayzon, as they are extremely inexpensive and adjustable color/brightness.

I also have a beamworks 72" LED I should have known that the price was too good to be true. i really don't like the light as its too bright and yellowish.

depending on the number of tanks you run, what your goals are and the size tanks depends on what you do.

I've tried so many different lights- especially when i was running around 20 tanks. i used led shop lights, elite strips several others.

on 2 of my 3 180's I use coralife seascape 48" fixtures. eventually i will use them on all 3 when I finally give up on the beamworks.

you can control the spectrum and timers also the one remote works for both.

this probably isnt helpful but its what i like i also use there small clip on lights on my smaller planted setups
