I'm looking to get a WAL. I have a 300 gallon currently ready for one but I wanna make sure I get all my details down first. As for feeding, how often and usually what do you guys yours? I know they eat basically anything, I was thinking of doing pellets, algea wafers. Some shrimp and talapia. But I'm not sure how much I should feed him or should I be more pellet/wafers based or more hardy shrimp and talapia. Any help would be awesome

IME they are great bottom feeders/sand sifters. Ive never had one not enjoy a pellet diet as well as an occasional tank mate ??…feeding 1-3 times a week is more than fine… any other bottom dwelling or slow moving fish is susceptible to being chomped in half randomly so keep that in mind. Ive had some luck with faster open water/top water column fish for cohab but its always a risk so i usually do cheap fish im not worried about losing. People say tank mates are fine… they may be for yrs even… but theres always a day someone will be cut in half or “caught” ?… they are pretty slow moving and placid at times but can make a move if needed, they are a predator after all… most tank mates will pick on their arms/legs also. IME they become more problematic to tank mates around 26-30”. Each fish has its own personality tho so try and see what u can get away with lol…
