I think I micht go asian if I can find an affordable fish. If not I'll probably just pick up a silver at my local pet store.

What size tank do you plan on housing one in?

I'm thinking if (i can convince my parents) To house the fish in a 60 gallon with a common pl*co.

you do know that these fish can grow over 3' in an aquarium right? they would need an 8'L 3'W tank to live in when full grown. I'm not sure how long the 60 gallon will last, one of the other members can help you out better than I can.

That is awesome if you can an asian!! I wish I lived in Canada sometimes!!

A 60 gallon tank will be too small very soon, so unless you plan on upgrading quickly, I would be looking for something between 200-300 gallons. The length and width are most important for an Arowana tank. ENJOY YOUR FISH SHOPPING!!

Thanks for the help.

Just curious how much does a Silver or black aro retail in the US? heard they cost a few hundred USD per fish?

If ay start small with a 4-6" silver arowana, it will grow 12 -14" in the fist year(somrtimes a litttle more and some a little less) so figure in a year your arowana will be 18" to 20" long. Will you be in the sitsuation to own a 6' x 2' x2' in 9 to 12 months? This also will be only your first upgrade, propable adult size for a silver aro is gonna be 32" to 36"(they can get bigger up to 48") you'll will need to be able to house a huge tank for this fish.

Generally it is best to ask new questions (such as this one)in a thread of your own. You will get a better response with replies pertaining to your specific question.

Go for a green, it's the most affordable asian.

Doesn't grow as big as a silver either, but you'll still need a tank way bigger than a 60.
