Alright I will give you a brief description of the tank, the fish and the old, current and possibly future filtration.

First the tank: its a 90 gallon (that was easy)

Now the fish: 2 green terrors 1m 6" 1f 5", 2 red terrors both f 4", crenicichla sveni m 8", common pleco 10". This is not ther pemanent home they will go into a 150 when I move my centrals into a 180 about 3 months from now.

Old filter setup was 1 rena xp2 and 1 aquaclear 50. The reason I ran two was because I already had them. The problem is the xp2 broke.

Current filter setup: 1 aquaclear 50, 1 air lift sponge filter. (Not enough at all). My water turned green and cloudy 2 days after the filter broke and I have been doing 25% w/c every other day to keep it as clean as possible. But its still allways green and cloudy. The water tests are fine though.

Future filtration: fill in the blank I can spend about 150 dollars (would be nice if I could go cheaper but don't mind spending it all on fri for the right filter. My experiance with filters has allways been aquaclear and I love them. But I bought 4 rena xp series filters about 3 years ago and have never had any problems untill now. Would like to try out other canisters. So any ideas? Any secret bang for your buck? Any experiances? I am really open to anything and I allready told my wife I might have to tap into savings (the set up). I am curious about the cascade 300 for a hob and 1000 for a canister. I could get both for about 150 and use my aquaclear on something else. Any experiances with the cascade products? Sorry I'm rambling let me know. And thank you for your time.

P.S. Filters will not have to transfer to the 150 they will remain on the 90 because some of my centrals will be going in there when I make the move to the 180. I hope this is not to confusing I'm not very good at explaining things.

Cascade is alright. I have had the 300 hob, 1200, and the 1500, i did like them intill i got the FX5's.

This set up had the 1200 and the 1500. It's a 180gal tank.

Nice tank. The fx5 is what I plan to run my 180 on. It would be a little overkill on a 90 though (not that I'm against that). That whole $ thing sucks sometimes. So the cascades are pretty good though?

And eheim I haven't even looked at those. I spaced I will do some reading.

There alright. I like the Cascade 300HOB's better. But, the canisters are 7/10

Well first there was the drop about 7 months ago it cracked the plastic tub. Easy fix though just aquarium sylicone. Then I broke off one of the clamps that lock the lid down. Easy fix use a big c clamp. Then it just stopped working one day and I said I guess I was only supposed to have xp3's that's the other three I have. So I chucked it. And the reason I don't want to do another is the way you have to prime the filter. Dumping cups its a bit of a pain I hear a lot of them have self primers or a squeez or push feature. I have considerd though and I'm not ruling it out. Just kinda wanted to try something else. And I only have 150$ to spend and I think xp3 is about 180$. Don't get me wrong worth every penny.

I did have to modify the aquaclear 300 to fit over the trim on my 90 would I run into the same problem with the 110.
