Hi everyone!
I am new to the forums :)

I joined because I have been looking up all available information on the breeding of ropefish, and a lot of the most detailed information I found was here on these forums.

Does anyone know where I can find the most up to date information? I also keep reading conflicting things on blogs, so is anyone able to clarify some things for me?

Some people say there are no instances where rope fish fry have lived past 7-15 weeks, others say there is commercial breeding going on, and still others say it is challenging but possible in the home aquarium.

Aside from blog articles, all of the official accounts that I have found say that the fry have died after 7-15 weeks and there are no accounts of people successfully breeding and raising rope fish fry in home aquariums.

But most of that information is from the early 2000s.

What have you lovely people heard here in the year of our lord 2022?

There was a article on Practical Fishkeeping forum but they removed it.

Thanks for responding!

I found another article about it written by the folks who were able to hatch their eggs in the 90s. I haven't seen anything since, nor has the one expert on bichirs I asked.

Other than the blogs claiming that there are farms, and people who know a guy who knows a guy.

I was curious because I have been reading up on them since I am about to get a couple, and the information was so conflicting.
