Heya. I've got this odd tank, 36" long, 10" wide, 17" tall, and I decided I'd put some shell dwellers in there.

Unfortunately, I know little about them.. I've been looking around and searching MFK and everywhere I could and I just can't find a site with a good amount of information on them.

I really don't know any Sp. of these guys, I've seen a few pictures but most aren't named, just photographed.

Anybody have some website with more info on shellies specifically ? Or mind sharing some pictures (with names)? Looking for the usual "bright colors" as well as the general information about the species (size, temperament, what they get along with, etc etc)

Here is what an ocellatus gold looks like (this one seems to be popular and has a nice yellow color to it):

I cant find the pics I had of my brevis, but those are another popular one. You can also look at multies, hecqui, speciosus, stappersi, calliurus and so on. There are so many to choose from but some may be harder to get a hold of and cost more. The website posted above is a good one to visit to get a better idea, pictures and information. You can type a lot of the names in of ones you like on google and should be able to find some good information. The ones I kept I have had in sand substrate with shells and a small cave rock, along with live and fake plants. The pH out of tap at my moms is high and sits around 8.0 in the tank, the water temp. is kept around 78. I havent had any problems with mine living in that set up, they seem to do pretty well. There are plenty of people on here who have experience with these fish that will have some good input for you.

Thanks much for the info, especially the forum !

The only species I've been able to find on MFK are:
Lamprologus Signatus
Lamprologus Brevis
Lamprologus Occelatus (Gold) / (Blue)
Lepidiolamprologus meeli
Neolamprologus meleagrise

And while those are really nice, it seems those are almost the only shellies people here keep. So I wanted to know what else is out there.
