Well the lfs said they would take both my firemouth and the arowana this saturday on trade. So does a jag cichlid sound ok or should i shoot for something different. My tank is a 75 gallon with 3 bichirs (2 senegal and 1 palmas), 1 sun cat, 1 severum, 1 angel fish. What should i add after the 2 fish are gone. The aro has to go i dont wanna mess his growth up cuz i cant set my large tank up..

the jag will kill the angel very quickly. so no.

i suggest getting a medium-large pleco, like hypostomus punctatus or L001.

No Jag! Way to aggressive and tank borders on the small side for it as an adult.

I would make the Severum the main focus fish. Maybe add a group of schooling fish that dont get too large. Maybe Rainbows, or Congo Tetras. Problem is your cat may consider them as food! Might try some Silver Dollars, but a school that is full grown will take up a lot of the tank space in that 75.

I really think your tank is fully stocked. You have relieved it of its over stocked situation, why the urge push it back to over stocked?

Why get rid of the Firemouth and replace it with an even bigger, meaner cichlid?

the jags a no go anymore. All fish in the tank are still small. Small enough that i could add a fish or 2. overstovked tanks are a given no matter what. my filtration makes up for it. I'm hoping to set the 125 up sometime next summer so i dont see any of the fish outgrowing the tank that quick.

How about a group of silverdollars?? They only grow to about 6''.

You need to meet the needs of your fish. Filtration does not meet the needs of fish in an over stocked tank. THe appropriate thing to do, is to stock your tank based on the adult size of your fish.

If you are planning to overstock your tank you are an irresponsible fish keeper.

I really can't imagine how or why anyone would go out of their way to create an inappropriate habitat for the animals in their care.

I will respectfully bow out of this thread. I do not condone animal abuse.
