picked up a set of 180g glass tank and stand today.

the stand I need to sand it down and re paint it cuz there are small rust spots. the metal stand are welded together by some metal strips like 1" wide, 1/8" or so thick. it has three legs on each side. the corner legs are like L shape. does this stand look strong enough to hole the tank filled with water?
the original owner used it to house an alligator, half sand half water and the water was only filled half way up.

on of the top brace had a little heat damage so it bent a little as you can see but not broken. I hope that won't compromise the strength.

The only problem now is to convenience my friends to help me bring it down to basement. :D and keep my fingers crossed that my wife won't yell at me.

ok, here's where I need to hear you guys out.

I now have two 180g, this new one and a 4'x4' one. should I move my pygo show from the 4x4 to this 6x2x2 and use the square one for rhombeus? or leave the pygo shoal in 4x4 and use the 6x2x2 for rhombeus?
if using the new one for pygo then I won't or only use very little substrate. other wise I'll use either gravel or sand for rhombeus.
I have 8 caribes and 1 piraya in the shoal, as for rhom, I'll either spoil the crap out of my blue diamond (6.5") by giving him the 180g or move my 11.5" black diamond to one of the big tank.

I say you should let me live in the new monster tank tho I am on an all shrimp diet.

that works, in one condition, you need to bang on the glass with your head everytime i walk by the tank.
and hope you can breath under water

Does the stand look like it will hold the weight? Yes, well yes depending on who did the welding.

I would say keep the 11.5 rhom in the new 180, and keep the pygos in the square tank. I can't provide rational explanations at the moment because I am jetlagged like all hell. I'm actually still in transit. I'm sitting in taipei, taiwan ATM. One more flight to catch for today.

It's really wierd. I left on 7/31 at 6pm EST. I just got off the plane about an hour ago. From where I am now it's 7:45AM 8/2. I'm a little disoriented.

Nice pick up on the tank.

I will bring a snorkel. I hope the glass is thicker than my head.

Once you are clear from jetlag then let me know your explanations behind this. :) traveling to the other side of the globe is a very interesting experience. :) this has worked for me to fix jetlag, force yourself to stay up all night the first day you arrived then do some crazy and exciting things the next day, by night time you'll crash and sleep like a baby...magically the following morning the jetlag is gone.

Your bdr deserves that tank, your shoal may look cramped in there .

Yeah I've done that too. Works like a charm. Melatonin helps too. I never really got uber tired, I just got uber disoriented because I do the same thing you do.

We're in cambodia now. Small town halfway between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. We've done so much in the last few days it feels like we've been here weeks. Having a blast.

Couple of interesting things for MFKers. Tinfoil barbs on the menu at the place we had lunch, 12 inch CK in the tank with the lobsters and snakeheads. That's about it so far in the fish department. I'll keep you guys updated.
