Looking for Synodontis granulosus

Hi,
I've been fascinated with this Synodontis granulosus for many years but wasn't experience enough to keep it when available. I've been in the hobby many years now and have the confidence to try keeping them. I've been looking for over a year now but couldn't find true wild caught one. Many on the market that are available now are hybrid. Would you kindly let me know where I can purchase this rare cat. Thank you.

Yeah, it is likely going to be tough, mate. They are quite rare and many people want them despite the hefty price tag of around $300. You can keep tabs on here but even more so on Planet Catfish to see when someone posts a thread on what they bought or are about to buy, because just as you said there many fake hybrids out there and knowledgeable (prospective) owners usually check the ID with the syno experts on PCF.

In the last decade, I probably came upon only a handful of threads on genuine species. Not that I am all pervasive but I am regularly on MFK Catfish section and on PCF.

There are some hybrids (not true Granulosas) online. Live aquaria and trinsfish has some currently.

Your reply confirm my suspicion. I even called up live aquaria and the lady I spoke to doesn't seems to know about synodontis. Thank you.

You're lucky it's still here. A guy a while back was looking to get one and I sent him this same link but I guess he didn't get it. They don't have any other fishes scientific name so I would assume it's pure.

Look 4 pictures down on this link, it has the same spots as the one from the diversden https://www.planetcatfish.com/cotm/cotm.php?species=synodontis+granulosa&article_id=143
Not to step on anyone's toes but I believe it could be one.

The experts on PCF usually mention the white bands on fins. I don't think the hybridizers got these right yet. So if these are off, it's probably not genuine.
