We've all seen them... pick them up at your LFS and set them up in the tank... The divider works well but that unsightly blue frame of it showing through your beautiful tank glass is a turn-off. I need to keep two of my new, thin, laid back fish by themselves for awhile until they beef up a bit, and I need to move them to the 30g which is in plain few of all visitors in my apartment, not hidden in the extra bedroom like the 20 they stay in now (need the 20 for other stuff :) ). I would consider getting glass cut the right dimensions and permanently sealing and installing it, but I won't need it in a few months. Has anyone been able to make a great looking (or at least not unattractive) temporary divider for their tanks? Would mirrors work with sealant on the edges so as not to scratch the tank glass? I'm up for any ideas... but I need to do something lol

I've seen a monsterfishkeepers member make a upside down T shape. And I believe you can cover the gravel to hold it inplace so that it is temp and it won't be tacky because you can cover the base on the divide into two.

clear perspex works great

plexi works... eggcrate is great too!... if u have a canister eggcrate would be hte best for flow unless u wanna drill holes in plexi ( makes a mess)

I've seen some elaborate ones to seperate monsters- can't find them now on the web-

but basically, the inner piece is basically either egg crate or plexi with slots or holes, with a rectangular frame made of pvc pipe and 2 elbows (at the bottom). The pvc is slotted to accept the egg crate / plexi, and then has suction cups to attach pvc to the glass.

For real monsters you could then put elbows at the top, and include a 4-way piece in the middle, and insert a piece of pvc long enough to reach each end of the tank, so the divider is immoble. The PVC is the thin wall type so pretty light but still strong, and easier to notch.

i used perspex (plexi) as you can see in my aviator and as its clear itsa not unsightly
