I used to live in Europe and have been trying to find some of the fish species which i used to keep over there here (i like to stick with whats familiar) but haven't been having a lot of luck. Does anyone know if you can get any of the following species in pet stores in Canada or the United states? Are they something which could be ordered in or be ordered online from sites like aquabid. Any help would be great thanks.I have been looking for any of the following Golden Orfe, Tench, bitterlings, common roach, common bream or Rudd. Any help would be gr4eat thanks.

I think the first thing you need to do is go on fish and wildlife department website in your state and check if those fishes are illegal or not !

I am pretty sure they are all legal here but will double check just to be absolutely certain. I actually have found a place to get the bitterlings from, still very interested in finding some of the others though.

Bitterlings and Golden Orfe can be bought (usually for ponds) in the US. Tench, Rudd and Bream I believe are illegal in many areas. I dont know about the laws is Nova Scotia on keeping those species, you would have to ask the provinces wildlife management dept for anwers. Looks like your looking for European natives, I wish you luck most of the LFS's in North America sell mainly tropical fish with the exception of few sp. of Goldfish and Koi.
