Anyone know where i can get a south american fish called a toadfish? only info i have is that it is from the Family - Batrachoididae and it is the Potamobathachus sp.

those fish are very cool, but read up on them, you can get them from the online sponsers but i am thinking they only live longterm with salt!

If i got a choice, i'd prefer freshwater. I don't know much about them because i could find any good info on them. I have an extra 29 and i was wanting something odd.

Freshwater- Thalassophryne amazonica - is the most available FW. Not sure how many species are freshwater but i think Daector quadrizonatus and D. gerringi is too. They have IMO nicer markers, and have slightly larger eyes, but I think it would be harder to find them.

The first species has def. been captive bred before.
They need a substrate they can bury in they like to hide so only basically there eyes are protruding from the substrate so it has to be kinda deep. They do well with a reasonable flow and a slightly acidic pH. They can be fussy feeders only excepting live foods and only when they swim over them, but i think they accept target fed prawns too. They are found all along the amazon and tributaries and these are the true prehistoric monster fish!

here are a few pics of my new "toadfish", he's about an inch long. i had to dig him up to get pics. the last pick is after he buried himself again.

Nice. Has it eaten any of your frogs yet?
