I would like some opinions on my aquascaping. I had all this rock sitting in a plastic bin in my garage for about a year. This is a 65 gallon tank. My questions are...what do you think of my rock work? I would welcome any suggestions you may have to make it look better or more natural. I've heard that if I were to buy a few pieces of new live rock that it would "seed" the rock I currently have...is this true? I plan on having mostly zoos and mushrooms and a few fish. I think having the long wall will really give me some good space to display my future zoos and shrooms. Thanks in advance for your opinions and suggestions. I would appreciate constructive criticism not someone being condesending. Thanks again.

there doesn't seem to be alot of horizontal space along the middle of the tank. if you take some of the rocks and make a little ledge about halfway down you could keep a few more frags.
maybe like a sea apple and sand starb for the bottom.
and what kind of fish did you want? some do need little aquascaped areas.

I see what you're talking about. The problem is I left a bit of room between the rock work and the overflow. I didn't want to come out too far because I don't want to take up any more of the sand bed. I am trying to give the tank the illusion of some depth. What I am going to try is maybe glueing a small piece of rock on the front of the flat part to give me a small ledge to place a zoo or mushroom. I am probably going to limit the amount of fish. I really like percula clowns and maybe a sand sifting goby of some type. I like the yellow tang or maybe something else like a bi color angelfish. Thank You for your input I really appreciate it!

I like it. I think it looks good.

I would prefer a little more swimming room but thats because I like the fish. In your case with limited fish ...... great.

looks good,

it is true if you add live rock it will seed the base rock, just make sure to keep your calcium levels up, and the rock will become live again in months,

imo, no matter how long you let rock dry out for it will always be live to a certain extent, i had all the rock in my 240 in a tub for over a year, after being in the water for 6 months, sponges and macro started to grow again, i guess there were spores or seeds deep in the rock

looks good as is imo what kind of lighting you gonna be using?

the tang may be a stretch. htye do swim alot and the tank (being a 65) i retty vertically oriented. the angel sounds fine. i'm not too sure on bicolors but check it's reef compatability.
for the goby i would suggest a yellow watchman as they are IMO the most colorful, readily-attained sifter goby.
you could also do some kind of hawk. i think he'd really dig all of the perches that are in your rockwork.

I have my ro/di unit on the way so I will hopefully get it up and running soon. When it comes to the yellow tang. I really like the bright yellow, but you don't think the three foot long tank is long enough? I had one in my last tank, it was only 24 inches wide and he seemed pretty content. I made the mistake and moved a powerhead and he got sucked in and stuck. That was a rough day. I loved that fish. Thanks for all the input I really appreciate it. Would any one have any suggestions on another fish that may be more compatable with my size tank and be friendly to the other occupants ( zoos, mushrooms and definitely a pair of percula clowns. As for lighting...that is my hold up. I have a 130 w pc from my last tank. I am currently looking for a new lighting option but the wallet is a little thin. It seems that every time I try to purchase a new light on ebay it falls through. I will keep working at it though. I am looking for a pc fixture to maybe use in conjunction with my old light.
