To my 300 with a 12" Jag , 12" Argentea, 7" Freddy, 7" JD and a 6" Festae. FMFMF in gender order..

Other fish are....

6x 4" SD's
3X 4" L75's
1 4" L147
1 4" L204

thoughts are a pair of either

Carpintis Vontehillo or Amphilophus Lyonsi.

I ideally, I'd buy 3 of either and put them in another tank to hopefully get a pair, sell the odd fish and add the pair to the community. I wouldn't be opposed to a solo fish either but a pair would be nice.
Thoughts? and any experience

Thanks!

I have both and love both. Can't go wrong with either. They both are very colorful and active. My vontihillo are probably more aggressive though so I would probably go with lyonsi with your stock as well.

That's kinda what my gut was telling me. I've heard Lyonsi are a little mellower Amphs all around and a pair would make a great addition to the tank.

Thanks guys!

I'm sorry I don't have vontihillo mine are rio Hondo and look amazing! Sorry long day at work;) the rio Hondo are by far the most attractive location IMO.

My only issue would be adding other amphs with the festae already in there. From what I've read their conspecific aggression can be terrible from either fish. Still worth a try IMO. I love lyonsi!

Not quite sure what will happen aggression wise but I would have to go with the Amphilophus Lyonsi. I have been debating picking up a pair myself, although I will probably buy 6 and let them pair up in another tank, to better my chances of obtaining a pair.

Yeah that would be the best scenario but I don't have the size tank of need to go that route. And I'd need these guys to be a bit bigger to handle themselves. I'll probably get 3-4 6" fish. One male and 2 or 3 females and let a pair form in an empty 60 gallon ......

Once paired, I'll move the pair to the 300 and sell the other females

Yeah knowing my luck, my Festae will try to pair with the male Lyonsi....

Which actually would be a pretty cool looking fish....
