Well i'm turning to the "experts" ;) for advice on this one. I know the rule of thumb is don't put anything in a piranha tank if you don't want it eaten.. but i have to ask. Will the shell and size help protect it from the RBP's as well as not attracting attention since they are i assumer as slow in water as on land.

Also i have plants in the tank so i'd like to know some easy to get snails that are more likely to eat algae and left over food and poop then a live plant if that's even possible.

What is "it"? Shrimp will be eaten and crawfish will end up picking at it until they eat the crawfish, other than that I got nothin.

Easy to get snails? Go buy some plants, chances are you'll get some ramshorns (or at least eggs) hitchhiking in. Snails won't eat poop, and will add waste to the aquarium themselves (granted it's not a lot per snail). Or, just go ask your LFS, they might even give you some.
