Looking at finally getting my first ray, due to current tank size, even though an upgrade is planned I would really like to stick with one that would be happy with my current tank size, 72x30 footprint. So it will need to be a smaller ray and smaller rays are fairly hard to come by except the retics apparently so I'm guessing that is the one for me. Anyone have a reputable online dealer that ships rays and has healthy stock? I have already read about a lot of poor conditions that people receive retics in and I don't want to be in that situation. so does anyone have any good recommendations?

Or maybe even a recommendation for someone they bought any kind of ray from that was a particularly positive experience. Healthy ray, person good to deal with etc? If it is a vendor that normal carries I may see if they can get in a retic for me.

i would try to find larger size reticulated ray or a local breeder if possible. this way they wont be in such a bad shape

motoros would outgrow a tank this size(according to the stickies, Believe me i am far from being able to argue a point either way on stingrays but i do try to do as much research as possible before jumping in), I looked through the stickies and decided it would almost have to be a retic or a true hystrix, but the true hystrix are supposedly pretty hard to get ahold of. I really wouldnt mind getting a retic that was already a little larger so that it had a better chance of being healthy. Only problem is there are ZERO places around me that get rays in so it would still have to be shipped (which is what worries me)

edit: just realized you put specifically MALE motoro, i know there is a size difference but is there enough of a difference where this footprint would be okay for one ray? I can get motoros much easier i believe

Retics can get just as big, and from what I understand they are a very fragile ray to keep. Males do stay smaller. My male motoro is about 13" compared to my females of the same age which are 16" and 18".

72 x 30 is a decent size footprint, you'll be fine with a Motoro.

Awesome, that should.make it.much easier to get a healthy ray. Does anyone have. Vendor they would recommend? I usually deal with snookn21 but he doesn't carry any rays so any recommendations?

Me. ;)

If you aren't in a really big hurry, I have some coming out real soon. I do have a pair right now, but the male has an eye injury and I want to make sure it heals before I sell him.

PM me if you want to discuss further. The next batch coming up should be real nice, but they might run a little more than the common Motoro. I'll know more in a week or so.
