Found this Aquarium on craigslist hes 2hr drive from me but hard to tell age and condition of the tank and I dont know a ton about all that it has. So looking for some help here before i waste and drive and time and money.

Info and pictures I have thus far.
Tank no stand
lights
3 big Rubbermaid tubs used as filtration
bunch of supplies in one of the tubs
some kind of panel see picture no clue what it is for?(last picture)
2 chillers
He purchased a house and the tank was in it he know nothing about aquariums so he has no idea if anything works on not.
Tank is dirty not sure whats on it he said he sees no scratches though.

What would you say i should pay for it? Think the glass is messed up to far?

Here are all the pictures I have

Looks like a mess man. I wouldnt pay more than 150 lol

It is a mess. I guess for $200 max would be ok. But all the houses and plumbing might be all nasty and contaminated.

yea understand he wanted 500 i talked him down to 300 but I don't want to get it all then it just be a big headache. Guess the search will continue :( glad I decided to post it up to get a better opinion then.

This might go without saying, but make sure it holds water, especially since it was abandoned. It looks like there was some DIY work done there, which means the "true" owner probably new his stuff, making me think there is some kind of major flaw.

Personally, assuming everything looks to be in working order and the glass can be seen through, I still wouldn't pay much over $200.

Im in the same boat, try using searchtempest.com or .org it helps break down craigslist and other classified lists.

Honestly I woudn't even bother with that... if I had to buy used would defintly want to find a nice clean tank for sale and will allow pics of the tank filled with water.

i couldn't agree with this more...
the fact that their tank has diy work done...shows that the Original dude knew exactly what to do or at least knew someone that did... and if he did...unless he was crazy or couldn't transport it...i wouldn't leave that big of a tank behind... personally...which means to me that something is wrong with it...

if it held water... and both of the chillers worked....it is well over 500$
if all the smudges on the tank are actually scratches and unable to be removed.... it's not even worth it in my opinion because that is an eyesore....
all of the rubbermade containers are crap unless you actually planned on reusing someone elses DIY setup... so i also agree that it is only worth 200$ IFFFFF the chillers work...
if the chillers are crap the tank can't be cleaned, and it doesn't hold water...offer him 5$

2 hours each way is an awfully long drive (and not exactly a small gas bill)! You certainly don't want to drive all that way...get there...and be disappointed!!!

If you decide to move forward with the deal...I would certainly ask a ton of questions...ask for more photos if necessary...and DEFINITELY settle on a price before starting the drive!:

Good luck!!!:)

Yea I'm passing on it gonna keep looking for a 180 gallon and thanks for the site to use for searching using it now
