hey all ive never posted here, this is what i currently have in my 55gal:

1 pleco 7"
1 albino tiger oscar 7"
1 Jack Dempsey 5"
1 Polypterus Palmas 8"
1 African Clawed Frog 6"

I am looking to set up an Amazon biotope and i want to know if 700 gallons is an adequate tank for the following:

pleco, JD, Oscar (current)

Jardini, peacock bass (2), Pacu, Red tailed cat, silver dollars (10+), teacup ray

any help would be appreciated, would all these fish be able to coincide? is this tank size enough? what is the bst substrate i am leaning towards sand.

When you say "Biotope" you are suggesting recreating a scene from a specific location/river/area/region and stocking it only with fish from that location/river/area/region. Just saying "Amazon River" is sort of a broad statement. So if you wish to think of it as a "biotope" you should narrow your locale...

But there is nothing at all wrong with taking fish with the same needs from different areas and mixing them, provided their needs/behavior/interaction is all considered...

700 gallons is a lot to work with, but some of the fish you are interested in have very large needs. Have fun planning this project!

yes i was looking into a general large amazon tank. I am about 6-8 months from purchasing a home and this is definitely something i am looking into.
