With the amount of time I spend on the internet (8+ hours a day, I'm a computer tech) I have lots of times to read articles, browse forums, hit up chat rooms, etc.
I notice an increasingly HUGE AMOUNT of public ingorance when it comes to the proper care of reptiles.
With that increase I also see alot more State legislation AGAINST keeping reptiles because of people getting injured/killed by reptiles, releasing them into the wild, dumping them at zoos, being siezed by animal controll, etc.
If this keeps up eventually reptiles may be banned all together as pets (as is the goal of the Humane Society of the United States)
Alot of this could be prevented simply by educating the public. For the past 2 years I have visited several of the schools in my area with my animals and the impact it makes on the kids is ASTOUNDING. I have met MANY students that simply by being provided with a little information have gained the initiative to get up and go out and do the research on these incredible creatures.
I am hoping to start a group in my area (central VT/NH) that can go around visiting classes, provide education, maybe even a few people who have the room/facilities to foster unwanted reptiles, etc. Maybe we can even get together and have a reptile "party" every once in a while.
If anyone is interested or has any ideas/suggestions let me know.

That sounds like a wonderful idea!! Too bad, I am so far away!!
