Great idea... natural, cheap... only thing can I put them in my sump? Provided I provide enough light? They could sit just after the wet/dry part so it'd be fresh flowing nitrites I have a ssmall compartment say 12x4 inches I can put them in... could this work? If so would there be a need to even add say purigen? Think imma buy plants next week....

Yes, the roots just go into the water, or at the top of ur lid or tank, ambient light is fine and your sump will be perfect, I personally like the look of them on top of the tank! Id say if your tank is cycled purigen isn't really needed, its kind of like carbon, if soaks up stuff, but I prefer loads of ceramic bio media, no issue with smell, and my water is crisp!

Please post pics in the link or if you have questions! Thx
