Have anyone tryed keeping fw rays and Lophiosilurus alexandri together..?

I would like to get one.. But only if its safe for my rays..

Kind regards Anders..

I don't think they would be a good idea..

1) Water Quality.. those pacman cats look like they could eat a TON of food, and create a HUGE bio-load
2) Competition.. they look like gluttons, and would like gobble up tons of food before the rays get to it.. forcing you to overfeed to get everyone enough food.
3) Size/growth rate.. Make sure you're rays are big and rowdy, because I'm guessing that cat will grow up fast, and eat them up like a burrito if they get the chance..

Thanks for the answer miles.. :) But I really need some solid info.. I could need some help in the Plesiotrygon iwamae tread.. but I think I will post this thread in the catfish forum instead.. Though I know they are very passive, only moving when they are hungry.. But lets see how it turns out.. :)

Kind regards Anders..

I'm keeping an adult 24" L. alexandri together with a juvenile 11" flower ray. The alexandri ignores the ray. In general L. alexandri is not aggressiv towards other fish which won't fit into their mouth. Their mouth is smaller than you might think. So if the ray is large enough there would not be a risk. Another tankmate is a 8" Crenicichla percna, which may have a similar size as a ray burrito. :D

It depends on the amount of food they get. They will grow from 8" to 12" in approx. 9 to 12 month. The grow rate will slow down after reaching 14 or 16". My alexandri will get 2 dead feeders of 4" per week.
Alexandri shows a lot of unusal behaviour which didn't expect. They will recognize you after short time and they know the feeding place if they will be fed by hand on the same place everytime. I hope you have fun with your alexandri.:)
