Is there anything in there to collect? I mean I know we LA Peeps like to trash on the LA River and how dirty it possibly...and probably is, but is there anything living in there that can be caught or worth catching? My parents live right by it and I remember as a little kid, I saw a small puddle that looked like it had some guppies in it, but It has been awhile.

Probably mosquitofish (Gambusia affinis), which is introduced into many waterways to curb mosquito larvae. Guppies are a tropical species that won't survive a SoCal winter.
