I just got into the hobby a year and a half ago, and now even with my all time fav Panda Uaru, Flame Back bleeding heart tetras, and Wild discus. I find just too much work to focus on my future. (17 YO, in grade 12) So i find that it is alot of work and getting very time and cost prohibitive to keep looking well, but the ascetics are one thing, and the maintenance of the fish are another, who are actually doing rather good. I mite try and sell everything and downsize and later get a large tank with arowanas. Trying to get into collage, finding a job, and getting ready for the Canadian Armed Forces Basic Military qualification is so stressful as it is :(. But thankfully Iam dedicated to try and get everything back bigger and better but its just gonna take awhile.

As a famous person once said pimpin' ain't easy!

The hobby is about the enjoyment you get out of it, if you are not enjoying it get out. Its that simple. Its hard to juggle all that stuff man. You will eventually fail at something or will resent your tank. And then what. Do you man. Come back when you have the time.

Well I had been hoping it would have had been under better circumstances when I heard back from you lingered but I understand. Given your circumstances I would indeed sell off your stock so you can fully focus on the things you have listed. If you can’t live without a tank then a 5 gallon with a beta wouldn’t be bad.

I thought I was going to need to get rid of all my stuff recently. I was depressed I didnt want to but with nowhere to live and everything else that was happening I was about to give up. Someone who cared about me and knew me well enough could see it was tearing me up. That person talked to a couple others and they all chipped in a got me a betta. That person even went to my boss and pleaded the case that it should live on the desk in my office. Long story short my stuff worked out and I now have a betta, which ive never had one before cool fish. Might just be the thing you need to give you that enjoyment without all the hassle. I planted the crap out of the tank put in some snails and I just top off the tank once a week and do a wc monthly. Tank never sees more then 20ppm nitrate.

oh well financially its not that I cant support them, ive jsut had to space out trets much longer, but really its the time it takes to get a nice looking tank with a diverse group of fishs. If I were to downgrade iam thinking a small paladarium with a Phanthom Pacman frog and some rare dwarf cichlids in the bottom. Also saving up for a F1 Savannah Cat, Leutistic Panda Gold Arowana and K9 Belgian Malinous dog :D lol I have alot of dreams Imma make sure imma do things right first and tackle em one by one. With the right spirit and work I mite have em all one day. What are some nice rare dwarfs of SA, or maybe I mite do 2 Palladium, one SA the other Asia. Ive always wanted an asian setup. But i also wanna try a african setup and all the ropefish. well clearly I have no control on leaving the hobby or living with a single better. Luckily I have Below Water, Common Sense Aquatics, and Afishanados to make me really indecisive on what to chose from. Really thinking of a SA palladium with a Phanthom Pacman frog, a pair of Andinocara maybe, Cardinals ofc, eques corys or Adolfoi, and maybe even agelea if i can get any at a reasonable price. oh well....
