Just thought I'd share, lol. For those who don't know, I did/do a little fish rescue for some time known as "Fish Sanctuary" in Wisconsin. Rescuing unwanted fish around the area. Stopped a little while back, just as a break with some tough times, but I'm trying to get things going once again.
Now, for those who followed along with the rescues, you should know Bruce; the large WC Oscar rescue. (The first Oscar rescue) Kept in a small tank with a terrible case of HITH and a poor diet (Live goldfish), I soon got the email about him on how the owners no longer wanted such a large fish. Just something smaller and more colorful. Described as a 10" Oscar, once at the home there was no 10" Oscar, but a 14" Oscar. Monster sized Oscar, largest I've seen in person. Brought home to a 60-Gallon, then a 12' Pool, and finally a 150-Gallon tank, Bruce recovered from his HITH, and went through a hell of an adventure while being here.
Sadly, Bruce passed today. With breathing problems, and refusing to eat over the past week-two weeks, he finally gave in. Measured at 14.5" once removed from the tank today, he was a great sized Oscar. Definitely a family favorite, as well as others in the community. Now with his death, it just makes me more wanting to get this rescue up and running once again. Hopefully it all works out.
