i've got two 2 2217 ehiems running on a 110gl tall. they are both approximately 2 years old. they get cleaned quarterly. recently, they both haven't been producing the gph that they did when i first purchased them. i recently cleaned both of them thoroughly but they still weren't pushing water like they once did.

anyone have the same experience?

Check your impeller, and impeller chamber. That is the leading cause of loss of pump power.

Howdy,

I didn't notice any loss in pressure on my 2211 until it had been running for 10 years. Thus, I am surprised if the 2217 lose power after 2 years. Have you cleaned the hoses as well? Did you ever run them under extremely high load (i.e. fully clogged or positioned above water level), run then dry or something like that? Have you cleaned the impeller assembly?

Good luck,
HarleyK

" Have you cleaned the hoses as well?"

and we have a winner. i've completely stripped down the canister, but never touched the hoses.

I just cleaned my hoses, my cascade seemed to weak for that kinda output I was getting. I must have increased the flow 60% by cleaning the pipes. Heres a pic of some of the crud I took out of those pipes.

Now I KNOW my tanks getting cleaned properly!
