my gar jumped out of the tank while we were gone for the day. i'm not sure how long he was out for either. his whole belly was red when i put him back in. i did rinse off first though. it's color has come back, but it has spot on one side with no color. looks like old dead scales. and has a bigger spot on the other side. it is acting normal though, like its not wounded.

i picked up some metalife or whatever its called.

any other ideas to get him back to normal?

 tom

If he is acting normal i would say your in the clear. The dead scales could be from a lack of oxygen? or maybe damage from the event?
Will he eat? is he swimming normal? what are your water paras?

yes, he is eating very well again and swimming around normal again. it took about 5 days for it to get back to normal thought. he spent about to days on the bottom of the tank not moving.
