Well I came home from a week of house sitting to find that my firemouth was nowhere to be seen. Finally after a bit of searching I found him laying under a rock cave. Apparently he had wondered into oscar territory and one of them had a go with him, completely biting his throat and under-belly out. He was about 5" at TOD. It's sad to see him go. But with every bad, there is a good. Now my Texas seems to be flourishing and is much more active. I finally got out the tape measure last night and measured all of my specimens. They were quite calm, atleast more than I expected. The measurements are as follows:

Red Oscar - 7"
Albino Tiger - 5"
(2x) Albino Reds - 10.5"; 11"
Pleco - 15"
Texas - 4.5"

Needless to say, he will be remembered.

Sorry for your loss, but your tank is massively over stocked for that 55g. Are you planning an upgrade soon?

Nope. Planning to thin out my collection. :D

why do these things always happen when we go away?

I've had fish get along for months, and then I go away on a work trip or a vacation, and when I get back someone has been killed in my absence . . . what the hell?

Why are the pretty ones always so dumb!? (im talking about the FM wandering into Oscar territory) I'm sorry for your loss, Its always sad to lose a pet. What do ya think your gonna do about thinning out your stock list?

sorry to hear `

I wonder if whoever was house sitting changed feeding amounts or feeding times that could of effected how aggressive your oscars are.
