ya, its been screwing with me since it happened....... (he dies on my birthday)
i lost my gar, to the darn pet store, sellin me diseased feeder fish, (the feeder fish tank looked normal, u know, the occasional dead fish here and there, but i couldnt tell they were diseased, until i took them home) only showing signs, the day after i feed my gar one

the reason i posted it here is cause now, im focusing on my warmouth, which i took from my pond (man made) to keep inside

just one question....... is their care pretty much the same as a "bass???" if so then im good

That sucks, man. Warmouth are pretty easy to keep. Mine takes cichlid pellets and begs like a dog. Didn't take to long for him to swicth to pellets, just didn't feed him for a few days and he was trained. I keep mine in a 55 with a large mouth and a hybrid sunfish and he is happy as can be. Good luck.

they convert easy to flake and pellets, a high quality floating pellet (i feed mine Hikari, cichlid gold) should be the staple of their diet.

supplement their diet with crickets, worms, freeze dried shrimp, frozen blood worm squares, etc.

i would skip the LFS feeders, you are not doing the fish any favors, the only live feeders that i ever give it are small sunfish, crayfish, mosquito fish, that i catch myself in local creeks and rivers, I give live feeders about 6 times a year or so.

mine likes to hang out around drift wood structure, i even had a piece of Styrofoamfloating in the tank for a while, it liked to hang out under it.

i put some fungus destroyer in the tank like was said, (right proportions and everything) the day it happened, but it didnt work..... = (

this is how im feelin right now......

"Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend
Somewhere along in the bitterness
And I would have stayed up with you all night
Had I known how to save a life"

i need to modify the 3rd line so it fits my situation

so its the warmouth now, thanks guys

rofl, well im used to rap lol so i dont know that stuff

IMO, rap comes in a close second to the fray. Most rap (at least the popular stuff you hear on the radio) involves next to zero talent.

Also, I gotta say, I've never really seen a verified case of a big fish eating a feeder fish and dying because that fish was diseased. As far as I'm concerned, if your fish are healthy with a good immune defense, there are very few diseases that they can't fight off by themselves. Not that I would actually do it, but I feel that as long as you have confidence in the health of your fish and the strength of your system, you could feed them ich-peppered feeders and they'd still come out on top, although the nutritional value of those fish might be even less than average feeders.

Bottom line: Quarantine feeders, but also keep your fish in a state of strong immunity, i.e. frequent water changes and a great diet combined with water chemistry that matches their natural habitat.

Mampam, this isn't a bash on your fish-keeping skills; for all I know, whatever the feeders were carrying was some sort of super-fungus that wipes out everything in its path.

I work at an LFS, and we seldom sell medications as we always say that its best to provide an environment preventative to disease than constantly chasing problems out of your tank(obvious philosophy, but some people just don't get it).
