I went to Walmart and got some shrimp for my eel ,and I fed both eels about 4 shrimp a piece. I woke up the next morning and found that they spit up all the shrimp they ate.That night I ended up losing one of them ,she was 29 1/2 inches long , so I ended up cutting her open to see if maybe I could find something, but all I found was she was full of eggs.I dont know if the shrimp had oil from the gulf or what, but I have never seen my eels do this before. I did peel and clean the shrimp before I fed them.

Sorry for your loss.I've had bad experiences with market shrimp, too. My favorite fish, an acanthicus adonis, died of bloat shortly after eating some.
=( Sorry to hear.. and no offense.. I won't touch anything from Walmarts meat department.. 'nore would I feed my fish from it. Hopefully your other eel is doing well.. and Sorry to hear you lost the one =( It always stinks to lose a beloved pet. I know I would be crushed to lose one of my fire eels, particularly in a manner where It was just bad luck.
