At my desk
I lost both of my paroon sharks, Crunchbite and *****pants McCrabby, over night to ich. They would have been a year old next month and the larger one just hit 12". They were by far my favorite and the reason the rest of my fish enjoy a 900 gallon tank. they are also the reason why I came to MFK. I miss them dearly already.

That sucks :(

I'm very sorry to hear this.

I, however, would like to help you figure out what happened. ICH does *not* kill overnight. It also takes more than 1 night to create a full-blown invasion, usually. Water params, temp, etc. ?

Sorry to hear about your loss. But I agree that ich doesnt kill over night. Had you been fighting it.

Where they fighting the ick all week and just died last night or was it sudden death with the ick as the only visabel problem? if it where a sudden death i have suspesion that ick was not the cause like santoury is thinking.

That sucks man, it is terrible to loose a favorite fish(s)...:(

I agree with the others that it probably wasn't ich that killed those fish.

I am thinking that Paroon sharks are scaleless, yes? And that they are very sensitive to the common treatments for ich (ie: Cu). Had you been medicating?

Burt:)

I have been super busy with work, traveling out of town, submittals, deadlines, etc..... My girlfriend has been taking care of my fish and doing a good job for the most part. I dont think she quarantined their live food long enough and she didnt know what she was looking for. I don't blame her, I shouldve made her wait until I returned home.

When I got home last night she pointed out to me that the paroons looked sick. They were infested pretty bad at that point, prob had been a week or so since I had a good look at them. Its not an aquarium, its a big tank so you can only see them from above and there is poor lighting when I get home in the evening.

I started treatment right away however it was too late to save these two. I dont anticipate losing any other fish, there are a few spots on them but nothing like what the paroons had. I halved the water to make it easier to keep a warmer temperature and treat with salt. There is no substrate, no gravel or any of that. The plants are all coming out tomorrow along with the driftwood and two 100 lb+ pieces of granite and wont be going back in until I'm sure I am rid of the parasites.

I am tremendously heartbroken and wanted to call into work today and take off..... I'm pretty sure I would have gotten fired however if my superiors found out we missed a deadline because of my pets......

It wasnt sudden as my post may have suggested, it was just unknown to me. Work made me a neglectful parent.

They are scaleless, which is prob why they got hit so bad while all the others are still swimming.

sorry to hear that man, i lost my favorite guppies to ghost shrimp
