just figured I'd share with all of you that I lost my fist fish last night...one of my Oscars. Had him for about 3 months. He got trapped under my air bubbling house that I have in the tank...he was only about 8 inches. Water params checked out fine, and all the other fish are doing well. I had seen Robin earlier in the day...as me and my girlfriend were sitting there watching the fish, she asked what was under the house...it was Robin. I never realized how tough loosing one would be...and certainly didn't expect it to be as soon as it was.

I'm sorry. Just remember in the fish hobby everyone loses fish. It will happen again. The best advice I can tell is enjoy them when you have them :)

Hello; In the five plus decades I have kept fish, all but the current batch have died. Some die right away. Some have survived for many years. I lost a tiger barb this last week from a dime sized group of ten purchased well over three years ago. I am down to seven from the initial ten.
Fish will die from time to time even when conditions in a tank are good. Fish deaths from some mistake or oversight on my part are more bothersome and I try to learn from that.
Good luck with the rest of your fish, but that they die is a part of fishkeeping.
I do not name fish. I do not know if that helps when they die.

I stopped naming fish, because it seems like only the ones that were named, died.
