I was away in BC for a wedding this weekend and I came home to my Yellow Lab dead on the gravel.

I immediately checked the params and they were normal, water temp was fine and there were no wounds on the fish. I scooped it out and did a 50% WC. No other fish are acting strange and they all looked very healthy.

I thought the fish was spawning just before I left and it's only 5-6 years old so it shouldn't have died this early.

Is there anything else I should do to clean out the tank?

On another note, the tank is much more calm now that the Yellow Lab has died. There were two dominant male fish in the tank. Maybe this was a good thing. A lot less fin nipping going on.

Six years is not a bad run for a yellow lab. What size tank we talking about and what are its occupants. I take it is is an African Mbuna tank?

Aye, 46gal mbuna tank.

I know more fish will die, I was just wondering if I did everything to properly clean the tank.

There's 6 other african cichlids and 3 juvi pictus cats.
