I had a 7inch ornate for about a yr or more. Just found it belly up after i changed the aquascape in the tank around and raised the water level. All his mates are fine a Butikofri, albino sengal and short boody ornate. Dnt kno what happen to the one. Still had air in the lungs when i removed from the tank!!! SMH I really want to get a few more to deal with my loss!!! Who knows where to find bichirs ornates, endie, and young weeski???? Stand by for a pic of tank. I removed a foam land mass i made so i could see my little dudes. They would hide in it all day and nite. Maybe tht was a mistake. The ornate tht died went OFF while I was cleaning and moving things around. Maybe I stressed him out. Hind site is 20/20 SMH

what? it just ended up dead? better check the water quality. might of been killed by the butterkofri, they are known to be aggressive.
Probably rammed into a bunch of stuff an that with the stress was too much. I too wonder why it is so small at a year old, tank size, water change schedule?

Yes. I never saw them come dwn to eat. I would feed but they seemed to stay hidden. I removed the little pike chiclids. He may have been out competing them. Was feeding river shrimp hakari sinking blend and aquadine along with rosies and nightcrawlers frm time to time.
