lost my scarlet pleco today

lost my L25 pleco today, checked on him last night he was kinda faded compared to normal but his fins were all fine. woke up this morning and saw him breathing but not moving at all, just being pushed around by my bichirs. this fins were all messed up and there was some white stuff from his gills. did a 25% water change came back a few hours later he was gone. he was giving to me by a friend who had him for since it was a only a couple inches. anyone know what could have caused this?

white stuff from gills...flukes maybe or parasites. Sorry for your loss. Hope your other fish are fine.

for future reference,
if u got any fish like that that will take blood worms and frozen foods,
go buy a jar of minced garlic and soak ur food in the garlic first, then feed...
that will boost there immune system and it will kill and prevent parasites in the fish..
i feed it 2-3 times a week like that
