Hey guys I recently lost my 3yr old Oscar during the power outtage in NY, want to restock the 55g with a community, any suggestions on what kind of fish for a semi aggressive community. My idea is:
Redtail shark. 1
Convict 3
Salvini. 1
Clown loach. 3-4
small schooling fish? Maybe tetras or danios

What y'all think?

I had a redtail shark in with a group of 12 clown loaches, all the same size, but the shark chased them into hiding the entire time.

Hello; One thing to consider is the stocking density of the tank. After I moved to low density stocking some years ago the power was off in early december for several days. I lost no fish at all and suspect the low stocking allowed enough gas exchange at the surface to keep things going.

thats alot of loaches, dont they clowns get like 5 or 6 inches. id think the width of that would get them in trouble

oh ok.. sorry to give bad advice then, my lfs has 6 adults for like 40 a piece, guess it is hard to find them that big.. I thought that price was steap

Thanks for the input guys really want the redtail in the tank, any other bottom fish besides the loaches I can put in a 3-6 group that would primary stay and feed on the bottom. Sand and gravel mix substrate with sand mostly on top? Being colorful and or cool patterns wont hurt :)
