ok so i have a 20g with a Aquaclear filter 5-20g
and a 5g with no filter (hasn't bin set up yet)
~~~~~~~~~
I'm planning on breeding my two angel fish in the 20g, because they laid eggs in my 50g.. the eggs didnt last the night.. and i wanna see if i can do it..
for the 5g I'm planning on having it a shrimp tank.. (wonder if they would breed too lol)
~~~~~~~~~

i was looking at a Hydro Sponge filter for the 5g.. then thought why not put in the 20g and move the Aquaclear to the 5g..

OK so on to my question.. for the shrimp tank would the.. water flow from the Aquaclear cause problems for the shrimp? ((oh ya i was planning on putting a sponge on the intake tube.. had some ghost shrimp go missing in the 20g before..))

And for the 20g.. is a Hydro filter enough? just planning on having 2 Angel fish (fry if it works) and maybe a bottom feeder.. i think i have a whiptail pleco hiding in my 50g..

Well, what I would do, is after your angels lay eggs in your 50 gallon, snip the leaves they laid the eggs on, and place them in the 5 gallon. Add a little methylene blue to prevent the unfertilized eggs from contaminating the "good" eggs. You will want sponge filters for the angelfish fry, but only AFTER they are free-swimming (about 4-5 days after they hatch) and after you remove the methylene blue with water changes, and some carbon. Don't use a cycled filter with the methylene blue, because that will kill the beneficial bacteria.

Angelfish fry are very fragile, and you must do water changes every day. I used a 2 cup measuring cup with panty hose stretched over it. I put the cup in the water, and submerged it/removed it until all the little "eyelashes" were no longer stuck to the panty hose. It's a time-consuming process, but it has to be done, since the fry are so small. If you want more detailed info, read www.angelsplus.com (google "angels plus" for the actual website, I could be recalling it incorectly.) Don't worry about having hard or soft water, just use the water you use for your parent tank, I have very hard water, with a pH of 8-8.2 and all the eggs hatched fine.

After a week or two, move the angelfish fry to the 20 gallon (a ten gallon would be better, so they can find food easier.) After you have finished with the 5 gallon, I'd go ahead with the shrimp in a heavily planted tank. They also prefer a sponge filter, since their babies can be sucked into a filter intake very easily.

Well thats all a good plan for the angelfish.. but i got no plants in my 50g (or any tank) and they laid the eggs on the intake tube. So i was just going to have the Angel fish in the 20g and keeps them in there with the fry.. i think they'd do a better job at parenting than me lol...
