It was very sad. I've had him for over a year now and he was probably close to full grown for a GSP. Started him in freshwater from the LFS and worked him into my saltwater tank with two others. He is the one on the left in this pic:

He died because of a powerhead! It really sucks because I only put the powerhead in there last night since I am using red slime algae remover and it says to turn off and remove carbon filters and add some extra water movement or w/e. It was an aquaclear powerhead like this:

Somehow he got sucked in by his tail into the cone part on the bottom. When I couldn't find him this morning, I started taking out the powerhead and saw his head sticking out of the cone. I have no idea how he got in there because he was definatly fatter than the hole.

So, be careful with your equipment and hopefully this wont happen to someone else :(

i had a figure 8 get his tail chopped, eventually died. as smart as they are, they act stupid sometimes. sorry to hear.

that sucks mate...:( ive done the same thing with my GSP. raised him from fresh to salt. ive just put a powerhead in its tank. will deffo have to keep an eye on him now. if a powerhead can catch a 6" monster, ollie stands no chance, he's only 2" long.

Well, just keep watch. Mine was probably 4-5 inches (had him about 1.5 years rougly). The crazy part is that he was probably a good inch in diameter larger than the hole he got sucked through. I would probably take off the cone part of the powerhead, which is what ended up killing mine. However, if you have a different type of powerhead, this may not be an issue if it has some sort of mesh to prevent entry.
