Today lost my mosaic ray

my tank spike almost 100 NO3 in the midle of the week and that cause a ph drop to 5. some food get stuk under some rocks and the wood .
i do 50% water changes every week and vac the gravel.
i put the tank BB now . wthit the ray i also lost a ancistrus and a CL .
my histryx looks to be andling well.
now i also had a pond filter of 3000l full of bioballs and some coral gravel to see if the serve as a buffer.
i dont now if is not from my tap water must test it .
