Hey guys,

Ok so I tested my water and my calcium is at 500, according to my test kit that is in the range for a reef aquarium but its right at the edge to being to high. Is this an ok calcium level or is there a way to lower it? I know my Nitrates are a little high.. I actually just did a water change about 2 days ago.

Nitrite: 0
Nitrates: between 10 and 20.
Phosphate: 0
o dkH/KH: 10/179ppm
Ammonia: 0

This is my first saltwater aquarium so I am just wondering if this is ok water quality and if you have any advice :)

Current tank stock:
-roughly 10lbs of live rock (I have 20lbs more to add but its currently curing in another tank)
-1 sixlined wrasse
-1 pink barred goby
-2 red claw hermits
-1 white hermit with blue in its face.. (was supposed to be a red claw?)
-4 nassarius snails
-1 zooanthid frag
-1 frag not 100% on what it is but looks like a tree coral

everyone thus far has been doing good.

Also I've noticed that I have these holes in my sand... or circles.. they just appeared maybe 4-5 or so days ago. I am curious as to what it is or what its from? I ve noticed 2 days ago my sand was floating to the surface as if I had a bubbler in the tank.. i stopped now but there's still sand that randomly goes to the top of the tank... kind of curious as to what is causing this? I do sift my sand to make sure I dont get toxic build up.

Also I have brown alaged that grows on the glass and sand. I would like to get rid of it... any suggestions? I can reduce the time the light is on but its not on all day or anything. (My lighting is a t5 unit with 2 actinic and 2 day bulbs)

I added a picture of the hole things in my sand....
